Mueller

So excited to kickoff this Austin Neighborhood mini series by featuring Mueller! This Central East Austin neighborhood is a planned unit development that has become one of the city's most desirable places to live. Located just three miles from downtown Austin, Mueller is a walkable & bike-friendly neighborhood that offers a mix of residential, commercial, and retail spaces. It’s full of beautiful green spaces, amazing parks, and easy access to restaurants & local businesses, as well as close proximity to Dell Children’s Hospital, the AISD Performing Arts Center & The Thinkery.

An Austin, Texas map highlighting the Mueller neighborhood located in Central East Austin.

Neighborhood History

The land that makes up the neighborhood used to be home to the Robert Mueller Municipal Airport. When the airport was decommissioned in 1999, the city of Austin set about planning the redevelopment of the 700-acres. The overall plan for the Mueller neighborhood was approved in 2003, and the first homes were built & sold in 2007. Since then, the neighborhood has grown into a vibrant community that's home to thousands of people.

Residential Options

One of the things that makes Mueller such a desirable neighborhood is the range of housing options available. From townhomes and condos to single-family homes, affordable housing & luxury apartments, there's something for everyone in this community.

The average price of a single-family home is $1,087,773 (pulled from MLS 2022 annual report - close price).

Parks & Green Spaces

Mueller is home to several beautiful parks & green spaces, which provide plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. One of the most popular parks in the neighborhood is Mueller Lake Park, which features a lake, walking trails, a playground, and picnic areas. The park is also home to the Mueller Lake Park Amphitheater, which hosts concerts & events throughout the year.

Shopping, Dining & Events

The neighborhood is home to the Mueller Market District, which includes a variety of retailers, including H-E-B (our neighborhood H-E-B has the BEST wine section), PetSmart, Old Navy, Home Depot and more.

There are an incredible amount of dining options in Mueller—maybe one day I’ll create a post to list them all. Some of my favorites include Colleen’s Kitchen, Xian Noodles, Rebel Cheese, Kerbey Lane Cafe, & Halcyon.

And to top it all off, the neighborhood hosts the Mueller Farmers' Market every Sunday.
